National M&E Account Manager
I am currently working with an established market leader in specialist building materials is seeking an experienced National Account Manager to drive strategic growth and manage key relationships across the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contracting sector.
This role will focus on developing business opportunities within the building services market and managing both new and existing Tier 1 National M&E Contractor accounts across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop a portfolio of key National M&E Contractors, ensuring strong commercial relationships and account growth.
Identify and deliver new business opportunities across the building services sector, engaging strategically with internal stakeholders to maximize revenue potential.
Lead the development and implementation of account management plans, including pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Build multi-level relationships within each account — from procurement and operations through to senior management — to strengthen account engagement and identify future growth areas.
Conduct regular client visits, presentations, and reviews to maintain proactive communication and deliver outstanding service.
Manage the end-to-end supply chain engagement to ensure efficient, profitable, and reliable supply to customers.
Analyse account performance, competitor activity, and market trends to inform commercial strategy and highlight opportunities for differentiation.
Take ownership of targets, budgets, and agreed objectives, ensuring consistent delivery against business goals.
Reactivate dormant accounts and identify new opportunities within existing relationships.
Provide regular written and verbal reports to senior management on customer activity, market intelligence, and potential for new products or services.
Experience & Skills Required
Proven experience in National Account Management or senior sales within the M&E or building services sector.
Strong network and understanding of M&E contractors, framework agreements, and national supply chains.
Excellent commercial and strategic awareness, with the ability to identify and convert opportunities across complex client structures.
High-level relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at senior level.
Confident communicator and presenter with excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
Strong analytical and organizational skills — able to manage multiple accounts effectively.
Proficient IT skills, particularly Excel and Power BI, with the ability to produce clear, data-driven reports and presentations.
Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently as part of a wider national sales function.
Package & Benefits
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 basic

Additional Information
No direct team management responsibilities.
Current portfolio includes 5 Tier 1 National M&E Contractor accounts, with plans to grow this to 15–20 accounts through reactivation and new business development.
Interview Process: Initial informal coffee meeting followed by an in-person interview and PowerPoint presentation (strategic business plan).
