Business Development Manager – Play & Leisure Equipment

Location: London & Home Counties (Hybrid, Field-Based)
 Salary: £45K – £50K basic + uncapped commission (1% on all sales, moving to 2% after reaching Target –  £1.4M) + company car/car allowance + benefits

About the Role:

Seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to join a leading play and leisure equipment provider. This is a consultative sales role, focused on driving new business opportunities and developing relationships across local authorities, architects, and design practices within London and the Home Counties.

With an existing portfolio of accounts to inherit, alongside a strong focus on new business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively generate and develop new business opportunities (approx. 70% new business, 30% account management).
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, architects, and landscape designers, driving projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Manage and grow an inherited portfolio of existing accounts within the region.
  • Deliver sales against a target of £1.4M annually (achievable, with potential for £2M).
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, ensuring projects are specified and won through the A&D community.
  • Accurately maintain records using CRM (Salesforce preferred) and report pipeline progress.
  • Attend client meetings, industry events, and exhibitions to promote the brand.

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 3 years’ proven sales experience, with a track record in new business development.
  • Experience working with the A&D (Architect & Design) community is essential (e.g. play/leisure equipment, landscaping, timber, contract furniture, or related sectors).
  • Consultative, relationship-driven sales approach.
  • Creative flair and ability to discuss design-led solutions with architects and designers.
  • Enthusiastic, inspirational, and personable – able to balance professionalism with approachability.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage full sales cycles.

Package & Benefits:

  • Basic salary: £45K – £50K 
  • Uncapped commission: 1% of sales up to 100% of target; 2% beyond target (OTE £80,000–£90,000+).
  • Annual target: £1.4M.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Tech and full expenses covered (including train travel if preferred over driving).
  • Hybrid role: flexible working, with travel across London & Home Counties; occasional office visits (approx. once a month, plus initial onboarding).
