Salary: £65,000 to £70,000 Basic + 20% Bonus + Company Car + Benefits
Sector: Commercial HVAC / Mechanical Building Services
The Opportunity
We are working with an established international manufacturer of specialist HVAC technologies that is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to strengthen its presence within the UK specification market.
This is a strategically important appointment, focused on developing relationships with M&E consulting engineers, identifying commercial and industrial projects at the early design stages, and influencing the specification of technical HVAC solutions.
The business has an established reputation for engineering quality and innovation, with a product portfolio covering humidification, heat recovery and associated HVAC technologies.
The successful candidate will play a key role in generating new project opportunities, developing consultant relationships and increasing the manufacturer’s presence within commercial building specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with M&E consulting engineers, mechanical design consultants and other specification decision-makers across the UK.
Identify commercial and industrial building projects at the early design stages and engage with consultants before equipment specifications are finalised.
Deliver technical presentations, CPDs and product demonstrations to consulting engineers and other relevant stakeholders.
Influence the specification of HVAC solutions through technical consultation, product knowledge and an understanding of project requirements.
Track opportunities through the design, tender and procurement stages, working with contractors, OEMs and internal sales colleagues to maximise specification conversion.
Identify new market opportunities across applications including commercial buildings, healthcare, data centres and industrial facilities.
Develop and manage a pipeline of specification opportunities, maintaining visibility of project progress and future revenue potential.
Collaborate with technical and commercial colleagues to ensure that proposed solutions meet project requirements.
Candidate Requirements
We are particularly interested in speaking with commercially driven HVAC sales professionals who have established experience of consultant-led specification sales.
Essential experience:
Proven experience in technical sales or business development within the commercial HVAC or mechanical building services sector.
A track record of developing relationships with M&E consulting engineers and influencing product specifications.
Experience identifying and developing project opportunities during the early design stages.
Good understanding of the construction project lifecycle, including consultant specification, tendering and contractor selection.
Sufficient technical knowledge to engage confidently with mechanical engineers and discuss HVAC system applications.
Strong presentation, relationship development and new business skills.
Willingness to travel nationally, with a particular emphasis on London-based consulting practices.
Particularly relevant product backgrounds include:
Air Handling Units (AHUs)
Commercial and industrial ventilation
Heat recovery systems
Humidification and humidity control
Commercial cooling and chillers
Applied HVAC and other engineered mechanical building services equipment
Direct experience of humidification is not essential. We are equally interested in candidates from related mechanical HVAC backgrounds who can demonstrate strong specification sales experience and relevant consultant relationships.
An engineering qualification would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
