An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a long-established supplier of fixings and fastenings, supporting growth across engineering and manufacturing customers in the North East.

Our client is a respected, family-run business with over 40 years of success in the industry. They are now recruiting for a sales professional to join their small but ambitious team in Newcastle. The role could be shaped around the right candidate’s strengths – either as an Internal Key Account Manager or an External Business Development Manager – with a hybrid focus on managing accounts and developing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts across the Newcastle, Gateshead, and surrounding area

  • Develop new business within engineering and manufacturing sectors, including heavy engineering, robotics, water, gas, and blue-chip manufacturing

  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver high levels of service

  • Support business growth through account retention, expansion, and new opportunities

  • Potential to progress into a more external role depending on performance and business needs

Candidate Profile:

  • Background in fixings, fastenings, or a closely related industry (preferred)

  • Strong technical sales experience within engineering/manufacturing supply chains

  • Track record of sales success relative to territory size and customer base

  • Customer-focused with a growth mindset and ability to balance account management with business development

Salary/Package:

  • External Business Development Manager: up to £50K base + bonus + company car
