About the Employer

Our client is a London-based listed derivatives brokerage operating in strategic partnership with a leading European equities house. The firm provides institutional clients with agency execution across listed derivatives and is now hiring its first dedicated finance lead. The Chairman, a highly experienced industry figure, currently oversees operations and accounting but is seeking a Financial Controller / Finance Manager to formalise and take ownership of the finance function.

The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to join a boutique business early and build out the finance function from the ground up. You’ll be responsible for management reporting, JV reporting, statutory year-end and audit preparation, and financial analysis. Working directly with leadership, you’ll provide MI, budgets, and forecasts while ensuring strong controls and processes in a lean, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

Management Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis.

  • Provide clear commentary on financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities.

  • Deliver monthly reporting packs directly to JV leadership.

  • Assist in preparing budgets, rolling forecasts, and business plans.

Financial Analysis & Control

  • Analyse cost drivers, profitability, and performance against KPIs.

  • Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management.

  • Monitor and control expenditure, ensuring alignment with budgets.

  • Create reliable, simple finance processes and documentation for a small, growing team.

Wider Remit

  • Lead statutory year-end and audit preparation.

  • Liaise with auditors, external advisors, and JV partners.

  • Improve systems and processes (currently spreadsheet-based).

What You’ll Bring

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).

  • Strong management accounting background with audit exposure.

  • Hands-on track record producing accounts, forecasts, and budgets.

  • Clear, confident communication with senior leadership and JV stakeholders.

  • High ownership, attention to detail, and process-building mindset.

  • Financial services or brokerage experience is beneficial but not essential.

Package

  • Base salary: £60,000 – £80,000 (dependent on experience).

  • Discretionary bonus.

  • Hybrid working: 3 days in London office, 2 days remote.

  • Start date: ASAP.
