Job Description:

1. Job Purpose
 My client is seeking an Area Business Manager to drive profitable, sustainable sales growth in the industrial market within a defined geographical region. This role involves prospecting for new accounts, managing existing relationships, and applying product knowledge to secure long-term business opportunities.

2. Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Maintain, grow, and protect existing business accounts within the territory.
  • Conduct sales and account management activities, including regular face-to-face visits and relationship-building.
  • Research and develop potential new business opportunities.
  • Manage margins and profitability through effective negotiation and pricing strategies.
  • Apply consultative selling techniques, using product and application knowledge to meet customer needs.
  • Achieve sales targets by building and maintaining strong pipelines, supported by accurate CRM records.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal sales team to maximize growth opportunities.
  • Regularly review account performance and implement strategies to address underperforming accounts.
  • Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities across the product range.
  • Execute a structured call plan to achieve sales objectives.
  • Submit timely and accurate reports, including forecasts, activity logs, and expenses.
  • Stay updated on competitor activities, industry developments, and market trends.
  • Attend industry exhibitions, events, and meetings as required.

3. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
 Key Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering or relevant experience within industrial sectors such as tooling, lubricants, or transmission systems.
  • Proven track record in external sales, ideally within the lubricants or chemical industry.
  • Strong understanding of B2B sales processes and CRM systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercially aware and results driven.

Desirable Experience:

  • Solution sales expertise and diary management skills.
  • Familiarity with industrial customers in the designated area.
  • Knowledge of metalworking, plastic injection moulding, or fluid management is advantageous.

 This is a field-based role requiring significant customer-facing time. The successful candidate will also attend head office meetings, industry exhibitions, and events as necessary to drive the company’s growth in the industrial market.
